CAPTURING MEMORIES

2020 | Mixed Media | 100cm x 80cm

Collage artworks on display, showing various landscapes and urban scenes.

This collection of collages were developed in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the experience of extended lockdowns. During this period, travel became a point of reflection and longing, prompting a return to personal travel archives and previously captured moments.

Revisiting these photographs highlighted a sense of distance from past experiences, which informed the development of the work. Images from different journeys were layered and combined to form composite, “mutant” collages, created by collapsing multiple photographs into a single frame. This process allowed each piece to encapsulate a broader travel experience within one scene, reflecting memory, displacement, and the compression of time.
