ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an Australian textile artist working across surface design, embroidery and mixed media. My practice is grounded in tactility, memory and material sensitivity, with a focus on slow, process-led making.

Raised in coastal Queensland and shaped by time living in Scotland, I’ve long been drawn to dramatic landscapes and what they quietly leave behind. These influences emerge intuitively in my work through organic pattern, subtle colour relationships, grounded palettes and a sense of place that is felt rather than explicitly defined.

I move between traditional and contemporary techniques, treating textiles as both surface and object. Repetition, hand-stitch and layered mark-making allow forms to accumulate gradually, leaving traces of process visible so that the act of making becomes embedded within the final work.
