ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an Australian textile artist working across surface design, embroidery and mixed media. My practice explores tactility, memory and material sensitivity through slow, process-led making.
Raised in coastal Queensland and shaped by time spent in Scotland, my work draws quietly from landscape, organic forms, grounded palettes and subtle shifts in texture reflecting a sense of place over time. These influences surface intuitively, embedded within colour relationships and compositional balance.
Working across traditional and contemporary techniques, I approach textiles as both surface and object. Repetition, hand-stitch and layered mark-making become acts of accumulation, allowing time and touch to remain visible within the work.
My background in fine jewellery design has shaped a sensitivity to scale, proportion and material longevity. Designing small-scale, wearable objects refined my attention to detail and strengthened my understanding of intimacy and restraint. This dialogue between art and object continues to inform my practice.
In 2020, I founded Elora Studio as an extension of my work, sharing original abstract embroidery pieces and thoughtfully developed kits that encourage experimentation and a slower, more reflective engagement with craft.
